InventionShare launches the AcceleRoute invention portfolio of nine invention families comprised of 19 issued US patents and 11 applications. The CTO is very credible, with over 100 patents filed and significant industry experience.

Mr. Greg Waite, CEO of InventionShare, announced the release of AcceleRoute’s new electronic switching nodes for either stand alone, modules or large-scale data centers today. Speaking from his Ottawa office, Mr. Waite said AcceleRoute’s new patented designs for routers and switches are the next major disrupter which will help data centers reduce real estate, power and processing costs.

In communication networks, a node is either a connection point, a redistribution point, or a communication endpoint (e.g. data terminal equipment). The definition of a node depends on the network and protocol layer referred to. A physical network node is an active electronic device that is attached to a network and is capable of creating, receiving, or transmitting information over a communications channel. This is typically carried out by a router or switch in a network.

The AcceleRoute invention portfolio is nine invention families comprised of 19 issued US patents and 11 applications. The CTO is very credible, with over 100 patents filed and significant industry experience at Nortel. AcceleRoute addresses all the key drivers for data center evolution, namely performance, throughput and lower energy costs. A hundred per cent of control traffic and 80% of data traffic has only one hop; there is less network congestion and complexity; it is easier to manage and expand; and there is better utilization of ports and, importantly, much less power consumption and better overall performance. The technology can be implemented on a single or multiple router design as a data center or in a data center and co-exist with current technology.

AcceleRoute’s fifth patent family targets a switching system which may serve as a large-scale data center or a geographically distributed network of global coverage or a local network. Access nodes of moderate dimensions are interconnected through central switches of large dimensions to form a large-scale switching system. The central switches are configured as latent space switches which scale easily to large dimensions. Each access node has asymmetric connections to the input sides and output sides of the central switches so that paths from an originating access node to a destination access node through the central switches are subject to staggered switching delays, permitting an access controller of any access node to select an available path of minimum switching delay for a given flow.  All of the control data and payload data traverse one-hop paths.  The switching-system structure is SDN-friendly and facilitates both distributed and centralized control.

For data center applications, using access nodes of 128 dual ports each and central switches of 16384 dual ports each, a switching system of more than 2 million dual ports is realized. At a port capacity of 40 Gbps, the access capacity exceeds 80 Pbps and the bulk of traffic experiences a switching delay below five microseconds. This capacity is significantly larger than the envisaged capacity of current data-center designs.

Access nodes of 512 dual ports each and central switches of 16384 dual ports each may also be deployed to create a switching system of more than 8 million dual ports. At a port capacity of 40 Gbps, the access capacity exceeds 320 Pbps. This is also significantly larger than the envisaged capacity of current network structures.

AcceleRoute’s less complex designs increase capacity and provide higher throughput, no queuing and less latency - which all lead to less processing time and processing costs thereby reducing power consumption significantly. This is leading edge in regards to data center switches and router design.”
