InventionShare: AcceleRoute's Data Center Architecture and Switch Designs Can Meet the 'Tsunami of Data Flow' Expected With the Increase in VR and AR Applications

Greg Waite, Founder and CEO of InventionShare, announced today at the The Licensing Executives Society (LES) 18th Annual Conference presented by the Silicon Valley Chapter in Palo Alto, California, that InventionShare and their client the AcceleRoute family of data center architecture and switch designs can provide unique scale and efficiencies to an ever-evolving virtual and augmented reality market.

Cloud and network infrastructure requirements are expected to dramatically increase with the use of VR and AR, over a wide range of applications from recreation, academia, government, and businesses.

With AcceleRoute's internal buffer less architecture and 90% of the traffic being achieved in a single hop, this is the leading technology to address the increasing demands of the internet and applications never considered possible when today's internet infrastructure was designed.

Greg Waite, CEO

Mr. Waite said, “I think that 2018 will be where we start to see augmented reality and virtual reality demonstrate the new demands on networks. Rich, real-time experiences require data transfer with layering and dynamic refresh rates. This will be especially true for workgroup and teaming applications synchronized through the cloud. For certain, net neutrality is going to be called into question as high data flow applications require low latency and optimized allocation of bandwidth. With AcceleRoute’s internal buffer less architecture and 90% of the traffic being achieved in a single hop, this is the leading technology to address the increasing demands of the internet and applications never considered possible when today's internet infrastructure was designed.”

The term virtual reality refers to the presentation, and simultaneous perception, of reality and its physical properties in an interactive virtual environment. Augmented reality refers to enhancements layered on top of an existing reality; through fade-in and overlay functions, computer-generated information, supplementary images or videos enhance the user's interaction. Quite simply, VR is an artificial simulation of a real-life environment while AR is the real world, enhanced by virtual elements.

The major issue impacting the growth of VR and AR applications is the vast amount of data being generated. The premier global provider of market intelligence IDC forecasts that the global data sphere will grow to 163 zettabytes (ZB) by 2025. That’s ten times the 16.1ZB of data generated in 2016. To consider the amount of data processing required, it takes one billion one terabyte hard drives to store one zettabyte of data. When you combine the amount of data processing required for AR and VR applications and add the Internet of Things (IoT) you now have mega data processing needs, worldwide. Gartner, Inc., the world's leading research and advisory company, predicts that 20.4 billion things will be connected by 2020, creating significant increases in global traffic across all networks.

Mr. Waite said, “As the tsunami of data flow transcends across all global, regional and local networks, the risk of latency becomes more prominent. For example, AR devices working in real-time will be unable to function correctly - poor responsiveness will impair adoption. Responsive networks that contemplate collaborative AR will attract the best applications. From an infrastructure perspective, speed will be essential. One of the criticisms often leveled at VR is its inability to handle the demands placed on it on a large scale, and the same principles will apply with AR. We have the solution with AcceleRoute.”

The AcceleRoute invention portfolio consists of 9 invention families protected by 25 issued patents and 7 patent applications. The inventor is a world-class network and switch designer with over 110 the United States issued patents and significant industry experience at Nortel Networks. The invention designs are based on a new orthogonal connectivity high performance architecture for data centers using COTS components that allows efficient source node determination improving performance by shortening the distance and by reducing the number of the internal ports hops (3 plus to 1 plus) by connecting to all the access nodes to all other switch nodes. This eliminates any requirements for buffering (all buffering is done at the edge nodes).

Various design alternatives have been conceived. In each design, the control data traverses only one hop where routing diversity and network congestion is virtually eliminated. Reduced complexity results in ease of network management, ease of network expansion, high port utilization, reduced power consumption, reduced network cost, and better overall performance. Through InventionShare, AcceleRoute is interested in partnering exclusively with one major company or a consortium of industry leaders with a goal of helping alleviate the problems associated with world’s appetite for increased data processing.

Mr. Waite said, “AcceleRoute network infrastructure addresses the key drivers for data center and global network evolution, specifically when it comes to the needs of AV and AR applications that emphasize performance, speed, connectivity, consistent throughput - and the real value for data centers processing the data is lower energy consumption, as AcceleRoute lends itself easily to software-defined-networking (SDN). Partnering around this invention portfolio would also offer ongoing collaboration with the inventor Maged Beshai, resulting in a much larger invention portfolio."

Mr. Waite said, "AcceleRoute is a timely invention portfolio providing massive scalability and performance to deal with the ever-increasing burden of the internet and new technologies like AV and AR. This is an important cleantech invention family that has significant commercial and social impacts as energy costs for data centers continue to rise and the amount of data processing required on the planet continues to increase."

About InventionShare

InventionShare functions as a perpetual and exclusive ‘Breakthrough Invention Fund’ that creates and develops ‘Invention Companies’ rather than high risk ‘Operating Companies’. This approach dramatically accelerates the adoption of breakthrough technologies by augmenting the innovation pipeline of large global companies for extraordinary financial outcomes and high social impact. We do this by attracting and representing credible senior inventors with a track record, through our ‘inventor friendly’ success-based model, and we support, amplify, protect and validate their seminal inventions with non-dilutive financial capital – in stark contrast to operating companies. The dramatic financial and social leverage we achieve is through our deep and distinct intellectual and relationship capital, industry and IP expertise, intelligence tools, process, diligence, and discipline.

About AcceleRoute
